Alex Freedman is an experienced media and broadcasting professional with years of executive management experience related to broadcast journalism, national non-profit organizations, and post-secondary education institutions. He also brings several years of frontline work as a journalist and senior producer to his new position.
Alex is currently Executive Director of the Community Radio Fund of Canada who provides funding, content, and support for more than 235 community, Indigenous, and campus radio stations in all parts of Canada. He advocates with the federal government in support of independent, local broadcasters in support of emerging musicians, artists, and local news and information.
Previously Alex was Chief of Staff to the National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations in Ottawa and Chief of Staff to the President of Laurentian University located in Sudbury, Ontario.
From 2005 to 2013, Alex worked as an investigative reporter for international correspondent, and senior producer at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Canada's national public broadcaster.
